This past weekend we took a short little family trip. Cody's friend got married in Wichita, KS, so we drove up there, and on the way back took a little field trip. We stopped by to see "Big Brutus", an ENORMOUS steam shovel used in the 1960's and 70's. It used enough electricity to run a city of 15,000. Pretty amazing.

WOW! what was that used for?
It was built for a coal mining company, (although it wasn't used to dig coal). They used it to lift overburden... and it could hold 150 tons of it!
What is overburden?
What is overburden?
I think it's just mostly the dirt
I just showed the pictures to Gordon, he was so excited, he wants to go and visit it now.
