First tooth!

Ansel's first tooth popped up just over a week ago! (You can barely see it if you click on the picture to enlarge it)

He sometimes will eat little bites of some types of food. He loves the little baby puffs that look like dry cereal.

I'm beginning to think he's going to skip the whole pureed baby food and rice cereal from a spoon phase. We keep trying it, but he just hasn't taken to it. We tried again the other day, and as the spoonful of green beans sat on his tongue (accompanied by a look of disgust) he began frantically making the sign for milk.

We began showing him some signs, so far he knows milk and will sometimes do light. (He's getting pretty good at signing milk when he's ready for it!)

He's been sitting up really well for a month or so now, but still hasn't really scooted or crawled yet. He still LOVES bath time. He splashes and kicks so much the floor, mirrors, and mom are usually soaked. He also still loves to drink out of a glass.

My Shadow!

Ansel's new discovery this past week....his shadow. He loves it. He tries to grab it off the wall, he talks to it, laughs at it, and just gets really excited to see it.

Our Nine Month Old

Ansel turned 9 months Wednesday and had his doctor check up yesterday. He weighed 15 lbs. 7 oz. and is now 26 inches long.

He also decided to roll from his back to tummy earlier this week and is having fun with his new found ability to move more. He used to practice by grasping one of our fingers to help him roll off of his back. Then, when he started to do it on his own, we caught him grabbing on to his own finger in order to make the move!

Check out my new ride!

There's more than one way to use this thing!

They even sleep the same!

*P.S. Happy Birthday tomorrow Daddy!

Rolling over

Ansel has officially found out how to escape his dreaded tummy time. Sunday he started rolling over (from tummy to back). Now ANY time he gets put on his tummy, he pushes up, then throws his head back (he can get some pretty good momentum into that head throw!) and rolls over. I don't think he has the same incentive to learn how to roll the other way yet. It's fun watching him try to figure things out.

He's also progressed with cameras. It used to be that he'd be smiling and then, upon seeing a camera, he'd stop and stare at it. Now he can be crying pretty hard, but as soon as he sees the camera he flashes that adorable grin.

He's tried a few baby food veggies.. sweet potatoes, green beans, etc. but he's still not into the whole idea of spoons and doesn't eat more than a few spoonfuls at a time. He does, however, LOVE to drink water from a glass. He gets excited to watch the glass fill up with ice and water from the fridge door, and once it's done he reaches for it and wants to keep drinking it for awhile.

Big Brutus

This past weekend we took a short little family trip. Cody's friend got married in Wichita, KS, so we drove up there, and on the way back took a little field trip. We stopped by to see "Big Brutus", an ENORMOUS steam shovel used in the 1960's and 70's. It used enough electricity to run a city of 15,000. Pretty amazing.

Summer fun

The trip to Louisiana went well this past month! It's pretty much an all day trip, but Ansel is quite the little traveler. Grandma and Grandpa Miller came with us, so he had company in the back seat and didn't complain much. We also went to Celebration City in Branson a week ago. Ansel rode his first ferris wheel and carousel ride. He continues to make many new sounds all the time.. there's the little grunting/ growl sound.. not sure how to explain it but its pretty funny. He's tolerating tummy time a little more than he used to... several minutes at a time instead of a few seconds! Warning though, if you hold him, you will get wet! He's still a major drooler, plus his new favorite trick is blowing bubbles (which always comes with a big saliva spray!) He hit 8 months yesterday... crazy to think its already been that long!

Got to see Aunt Amanda again. She's in the Marines and goes back to Iraq pretty soon.

Nap time... can it get any better than this?
